The invention relates to a method for screening a plant population for the presence in that such plants that manifest their lowered sensitivity to ethylene and physiological disorders, including rust and yellowing, in comparison with a control plant. In said method the population of seeds is germinated in the darkness in the presence of ethylene obtaining the seedlings which, if they have hypocotyls longer than the hypocotyls of the initial ethylene-sensitive controls in ethylene atmosphere, are selected as the plants manifesting their lowered sensitivity to the action of ethylene and physiological disorders, including rust and yellowing. The invention also refers to the plants thus selected. |
