PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing an image display apparatus capable of maintaining high display performance over a long period of time and capable of reducing the manufacturing cost, and to provide the image display apparatus. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the image display apparatus includes an envelope having a front face substrate 11 and a rear face substrate arranged opposite to this front face substrate, and non-evaporation type getters installed in the envelope. Powders 23a of the non-evaporation type getters are sprayed on the inner face of a component constituting the envelope. Inorganic binders 23b are dropped on a desired region of the sprayed powders of the non-evaporation type getters, and non-evaporation type getters are formed by fixing and adhering the powders of the non-evaporation type getters to the component by these binders.
