<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a time required to make each wireless communication part communication-enabled while suppressing power consumption of a portable electronic device having a plurality of wireless communication parts. <P>SOLUTION: A portable telephone device 1 determines whether or not a portable telephone communication part 13 and a wireless LAN communication part 14 are used respectively after power-on, based on communication system information stored preliminarily in a storage part 12. After the determination, the portable telephone communication part 13 is initialized and made transition to a stand-by state or a dormant state depending on the determination result. Next, the wireless LAN communication part 14 is initialized and made transition to a stand-by state or a dormant state depending on the determination result.
