PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the driving force required by a driving unit for moving abutting parts in a stacker crane having the abutting parts to be abutted on/separated from a rail installed on an upper side. SOLUTION: A stacker crane comprises a pair of abutting parts 72a, 72b arranged across an upper rail and abutted on the rail, a toggle mechanism 80 capable of setting the distance between the abutting parts 72a, 72b to be the first distance in which at least any one of the abutting parts 72a, 72b is abutted on the rail when delivering luggage to at least an elevating/lowering part and the second distance longer than the first distance, and a driving unit 71 for driving the toggle mechanism 80 by applying the driving force from the direction different from the direction of the reaction force to be received by the abutting parts 72a, 72b from the rail.
