<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source unit capable of making a light guide plate with a relatively thin shape uniformly and efficiently perform plane light emission by using an LED light source on the basis of a new way of thinking. <P>SOLUTION: Light emitted from the LED light source 11 is incident from an incident surface 12g of a thick section 12a without being incident from a thin section 12b since a shielding member 13 is arranged on a lower surface 12f of the thin section 12b.
