A measuring device 10 that measures biological information by having an area to be examined in contact with a contact unit 14 is provided with: a pressure detection unit 31 that detects pressure applied to the contact unit 14; a laser light source 21 that outputs laser light; a light receiving unit 22 that receives scattered light of the laser light, said scattered light having been scattered from the area to be examined; a sensor control unit 35 that controls power supply to the pressure detection unit 31, the laser light source 21, and the light receiving unit 22; and a biological information generating unit 18 that generates the biological information on the basis of output of the light receiving unit 22. The sensor control unit 35 performs control such that power is supplied to the laser light source 21 and the light receiving unit 22 in a state wherein the pressure detected by the pressure detection unit 31 is within a predetermined pressure range. |
