<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium ion secondary battery suitable for deterioration diagnosis without adding a reagent into the electrolyte in the battery. <P>SOLUTION: A lithium ion secondary battery 1 includes: a positive electrode; a negative electrode; and electrolyte inside an exterior case 3. Outside the exterior case 3 is disposed a sealed reagent container 10 containing a reagent that undergoes coloration by selectively reacting with lithium ions in the electrolyte.
