PURPOSE: A Weissella koreensis OK1-6 having an ability of producing ornithine is provided to produce health foods of anti-obesity effect. CONSTITUTION: A Weissella koreensis OK1-6(KFCC 11469P) having an ability of producing ornithine is isolated from Kimchi. A method for making Kimchi comprises: a step of adding Weissella koreensis OK1-6 to a MRS medium containing 0.05-1.0%(w/v) of arginine; and a step of culturing at 25-37°C for 24-48 hours. A health food of anti-obesity effect contains the Weissella koreensis OK1-6.
