An image capturing system generates a stereoscopic image using two kinds of captured images having a disparity therebetween. The image capturing system comprises: a disparity adjustment unit 61 that performs an adjustment such that the value of a disparity between a left-side image signal and a right-side image signal that are two image signals having a disparity therebetween becomes virtually zero; a comparison unit 62 that compares luminance values of the left-side image signal and the right-side image signal of which the disparity has been adjusted to virtually zero by the disparity adjustment unit 61; a white spot detection unit 63 that detects a white spot on an image capturing element 25 on the basis of information subjected to the comparison by the comparison unit 62; and a white spot correction unit 64 that performs a predetermined correction on a pixel having the white spot on the basis of the result of the detection by the white spot detection unit 63. |
