PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a galactosaminoglucan capable of allowing an effective concentration in the blood to be retained when administered in an organism, and mildly preventing progress of thrombus, or dissolving or promoting the dissolution of the thrombus. SOLUTION: This galactosaminoglucan has the following characteristics: (1) having 40,000-200,000 dalton molecular weight measured by multiangle light scattering method; (2) providing about 16-25% proportion of 2-acetamindo-2- deoxy-3-O-(4-deoxy-α-L-threo-hex-4-enopyranosyluronic acid)-6-sulfo-D-galactose in unsatured disaccharides analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography when digested by chondroitinase ABC; (3) having about 7-18 wt.% nondigestible part when chondroitinase B is allowed to act thereon.
