A method for installing points in railway tracks, characterized in that the points are entirely pre-assembled in functional units (1, 2, 7, 18) on a transport vehicle and the tongue area, the area in between the tracks and th e core area, together with pre-assembled railway sleepers (6, 18), the moveabl e parts of said points, and, for instance, the tongue device and the safety devices are lowered into the place of installation in a pre-assembled state and joined to the adjacent tracks, whereupon the points are ballasted and th e ballast of the track is packed, the connection lines for the drive mechanism of said points and the safety devices of the points are joined and the point s are placed in a state of operation. The actuators of the points transported in a pre-assembled state are embodied in the form of hydraulic actuators (3, 4, 5). The hydraulic lines (6) connecting the actuators are elastically fixed t o the sleepers (18). The actuators (3, 4, 5) are connected to the moveable par ts of the points, e.g. the tongues (2) in such a way that they are pivotable about an axis extending in the longitudinal direction of the tracks by inserting elastic connecting members and/or crowned bearings (8,9).
