<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance ease of use of a remote control transmitter having a plurality of apparatus compatible modes. <P>SOLUTION: Electronic apparatus receives a remote control signal from the remote control transmitter 16 provided with a function of setting an operation key applied in common to a plurality of apparatus units 21, 22, 23 as a key exclusive to the apparatus units by using a mode changeover switch, interprets the remote control signal to discriminate a setting mode of the remote control transmitter 16, and stores the result to a memory 29.
