A power converting control apparatus and a method for a line connection type fuel cell system are provided to enhance the stability and driving performance of the system by preventing an excessive state occurring when switching a drive mode. In a power converting control apparatus for a line connection type fuel cell system, a DC/DC converting unit(10) boosts a DC voltage generated from a fuel cell. An inverter(20) transforms the DC voltage, generated from the DC/DC converting unit(10), into an AC voltage by a PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) signal. A control unit(100) selects an independent drive mode or a line connection drive mode in accordance with an interruption of commercial electric power and generates the PWM signal to control a switching of the inverter(20) by using a current order value of the selected drive mode.
