PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner containing ample amount of colorant and being superior in the ease of fixing to a recording medium at a low-temperature range (low-temperature fixability), durability and storage stability (thermal and storage stability and long-term storage stability). SOLUTION: The toner includes a large number toner particles, wherein each of the toner particles has a core region and a shell area coating the periphery of the core region and having a composition different from that of the core region. The core region and the shell region each consist of materials containing the colorant and a resin, and a concentration C<SB>C</SB>[wt.%] of the colorant in the core region and the concentration C<SB>S</SB>[wt.%] of the colorant in the shell region satisfy the relation C<SB>C</SB>≤C<SB>S</SB>. The concentration range C<SB>C</SB>of the colorant in the core region is, preferably, 1.8-6.5 wt.%, and the concentration C<SB>S</SB>of the colorant in the shell region is, preferably, 6.0-22.0 wt.%.
