DRUG HAVING EFFECT OF PROMOTING HEPATOCYTE GROWTH

A drug to be used in hepatic regeneration therapy. More specifically, it is intended to provide a drug for promoting hepatocyte growth or hepatic regeneration which comprises, as the active ingredient, a polyprenyl compound containing several straight-chain isoprene units such as 3,7,11,15-tetramethyl-2,4,6,10,14-hexadecapentaenoic acid. The drug thus provided can exert a growth promoting effect selectively on normal hepatocytes and, therefore, is useful in, for example, hepatic regeneration for treating hepatic cancer.
