PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the system cost per one ONU as much as possible in PON system, especially 10G-EPON system.SOLUTION: An OLT 1 is constituted of N optical transceivers 11(11-1 through 11-N), one PON control circuit 12, and one selection/distribution circuit 13. Since the maximum number of ONUs that can be connected with one optical transceiver is 32 according to the IEEE standard, N×32 ONUs can be housed by a constitution of N optical transceivers 11, one PON control circuit 12, and one selection/distribution circuit 13. For example, when four optical transceivers 11 are used, 4×32=128 ONUs can be housed in the OLT 1. Consequently, the system cost per one ONU is reduced. |
