An advanced view frustum culling method in stereoscopic terrain visualization is provided to merge two view frustums for both eyes and calculate a union of the two view frustums before performing only one view frustum culling process on the calculated union, thereby significantly increasing a rendering rate of the stereoscopic terrain visualization. In a method for culling a view frustum in stereoscopic terrain visualization, the method comprises the following steps of: merging two view frustums for each eye; calculating a union of the two merged view frustums; and performing a view frustum culling work on the calculated union of the two view frustums. Because the view frustum merged in accordance with the present invention is also formed in a truncated pyramid shape, the view frustum culling can be performed by simply expanding a test region. |
