<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an edge-light type surface light source device for local dimming capable of carrying out local dimming with high accuracy. <P>SOLUTION: The surface light source device is provided with a light guide plate which has an outgoing face, a rear face opposed to the outgoing face, and an incident face provided at least on one side face out of the side faces between the outgoing face and the rear face, a plurality of light sources which are arranged on the incident face of the light guide plate and can control light emission by being divided in each area, and a control part which controls the light emission of the light source by dividing in each area. The light guide plate has a body part which can guide light incident from the light sources to the outgoing face direction and an optical element part which is formed on the outgoing face side of the body part and has a plurality of unit prisms. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
