PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine capable of regenerating purification means without generating failures such as noise, abnormal temperature rise and smoke.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine executes, when enriching an air fuel ratio of exhaust gas to reduce and purify a harmful material occluded in purification means, first combustion in which in a case where the load of the internal combustion engine is less than a setting value, post injection is executed to attain air fuel ratio rich, and executes second combustion in which in a case where the load is equal to the setting value or more, the air fuel ratio rich is attained without executing the post injection.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
