PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide such a pigment composition for use in colorants as having a high hiding property, a high color developing ability and a high gloss and also as having that color tone of its record which is hardly influenced by a material to be recorded.

SOLUTION: The pigment composition is such a pigment composition that contains a coloring pigment and a component showing interference colors and preferably that contains the above coloring pigment with a content larger than a content of the above component showing interference colors.
