FINE GRAINED MULTI-THREAD DISPATCH BLOCK MECHANISM

A mechanism for blocking fine grained multi-thread dispatch is provided to finely control execution of threads by making a multi-thread processor block the threads for dispatch. A long latency condition of the first thread in an instruction pipeline is detected. Correct latency related to the long latency condition is determined. A dispatch-block signal is generated. The first thread is blocked for the specific number of cycles in a dispatch time point by responding to the dispatch-block signal. An instruction from the non-blocked threads of the instruction pipeline is dispatched for a blocked term(312). The instruction from all non-blocked threads of the instruction pipeline is dispatched after blocking is terminated.
