A dental handpiece with a pressure regulating mechanism is provided to prevent speed of a dental treatment tool from increasing by automatically regulating a pressure when the pressure of compressed air supplied from a dental unit exceeds a proper range. The dental handpiece includes: a burr sleeve for receiving a dental treatment tool(13); a head part(12) for receiving and rotatably supporting the burr sleeve; an air supply path for injecting compressed air into the head part for driving the burr sleeve; and an exhaust path for discharging the compressed air. The air supply path has a hole(14a) extended in an axle direction through a rear connect part(14), and a pipe-shaped pressure regulating member(20) and an air supply pipe(15) serially connected between the end part of the hole and head part. The pressure regulating member has a vent for communicating with the exhaust path, and a ring-shaped valve body for selectively opening and closing the vent.
