SAND FILERING APPARATUS AND CLEANING METHOD FOR THE SAME

A sand filtering apparatus which can remove contaminants existing between filter media of the filter medium layer as well as highly viscous contaminants formed on an upper surface of a filter medium layer of the sand filtering apparatus, and a cleaning method of the sand filtering apparatus are provided. A sand filtering apparatus(1) comprises: a sand filtering tank(10) including a filter medium layer for filtering influent, the filter medium layer being divided into a plurality of filter medium chambers; a treated water channel(20) which is installed at one side of the sand filtering tank, and through which treated water filtered in the sand filtering tank flows; a moving bridge(30) installed at an upper side of the sand filtering tank and moved along the sand filtering tank; a cleaning unit(40) which is installed at a lower side of the moving bridge, and removes contaminants accumulated on the filter medium layer by ejecting air onto the filter medium layer; and a control panel(60) controlling the moving bridge and the cleaning unit to clean the filter medium layer comprised of the plurality of filter medium chambers.
