<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve λ/4 in a wide wavelength region using one polymer film and to increase the viewing angle of a liquid crystal display. <P>SOLUTION: A method for producing a retardation plate is characterized by sequentially carrying out a step of preparing a cellulose acetate solution, containing cellulose acetate and an aromatic compound having at least two aromatic rings; a step of forming a cellulose acetate film, by flow-casting the prepared cellulose acetate solution on a drum or band; a step of peeling the formed cellulose acetate film from the drum or tha band; and a step of stretching the cellulose acetate film so that the retardation value measured at a wavelength of 450 nm (Re450) is set in a range of 100-125 nm, so that the retardation value measured at a wavelength of 590 nm (Re590) is set in a range of 120-160 nm, the relation Re590-Re450≥2 nm is satisfied, and the thickness is set in a range of 10-70 nm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
