<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide phytase variants derived from a parent phytase homologous to a Peniophora lycii phytase and comprising at least one substitution of a number of positions corresponding to a position in the Peniophora lycii phytase. <P>SOLUTION: The variants have a Tm of up to 82°C at pH 5.5 as determined by DSC and/or doubled specific activity which are properties of higher specific activity and/or more improved thermal stability than those of the parent phytase.
