A head of a vacuum cleaner is provided to prevent foreign matters from being infiltrated into a connection pulley by contacting a shielding member made of nonwoven fabric with the connection pulley, to improve performance of an agitator by transmitting power of an agitator motor through a transmission belt without loss, and to enhance satisfaction by decreasing noise in turning the agitator. A head of a vacuum cleaner includes an upper cover, a lower cover(510) combined with a lower part of the upper cover and provided with a suction port for flowing foreign matters, an agitator installed to the suction port to separate foreign matters from a floor by turning, a displacement restricting cover mounted in the lower part of the lower cover to regulate displacement of the agitator, a connection pulley recessed in the agitator to install a transmission belt, and a foreign matter restricting unit(600) formed corresponding to the lower cover and the displacement restricting cover to regulate inflow of foreign matters into the connection pulley. A shielding member(610) is made of elastic material, and contacted to the outer periphery of the connection pulley to shut off inflow of foreign matters into the connection pulley. A storage groove(602) is recessed in the foreign matter restricting unit to contain the shielding member.
