An apparatus and a method for silent call communication in a portable terminal are provided to enable a terminal user to respond to a call under situations requiring silence or the silent call communication so that the terminal user can always make a call. A method for silent call communication in a portable terminal comprises the following steps of: confirming whether a call mode is a silent call communication mode when a call is received from the other party's terminal(S1,S2); if so, converting a received voice of the other party into text when a user voice of the other terminal is received, and displaying the converted text; and converting an inputted text into a voice complex sound, and transmitting the voice complex sound to the other party's terminal when a text message, which will be transmitted for the silent call communication from a user to the other party, is inputted(S5).
