<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an empty container collecting device capable of quickly reading an information code. <P>SOLUTION: A QR code on the bottom surface of an empty can at an imaging position conveyed on a first conveying path 34 along a downward imaging axis 50f is imaged by a first imaging device 50 when the can is thrown in. Since the empty can does not need to be rotated, the QR code can be quickly read. Since the first imaging device 50 is disposed at a position higher than the bottom surface of the empty can at the imaging position conveyed on the first conveying path 34 when the can is thrown in, liquid (contents) remaining in the empty can is not spattered to the first imaging device 50.
