MANUFACTURING PROCESS FOR POLY(ARYLENE SULFIDE)

A method for preparing polyarylene sulfide is provided to effectively reduce the iodine content in polyarylene sulfide by using a cost-efficient polymerization terminator, thereby avoiding corrosion-related problems and reducing the cost. A method for preparing polyarylene sulfide plus poly(arylene sulfide) E by using an iodine-containing compound and a sulfur compound as starting materials comprises a step of introducing a sulfur-containing polymerization terminator in an amount of 0.01-10.0 wt% based on the weight of the polyarylene sulfide. The sulfur-containing polymerization terminator is selected from the group consisting of benzothiazoles, benzothiazolesulfenamides, thiurams and dithiocarbamates.
