PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system which makes it possible to reduce both the number of valves installed in air passages and the number of drive means therefor.
SOLUTION: The fuel cell system comprises a fuel cell stack, an upstream valve for opening/closing an air supply pipe, a downstream valve for opening/closing an air exhaust pipe, a single valve drive unit for driving the upstream and downstream valves at the same time, and a control unit for controlling air pressure at a cathode electrode by adjusting a valve opening θ within a prescribed pressure adjustment range using the valve drive unit. When the valve opening θ is adjusted within the prescribed pressure adjustment range, the cross sectional area of an air passage formed in the air supply pipe by the upstream valve is maintained, irrespective of the valve opening θ, at a prescribed size which is predetermined within a permissible range for the fuel cell system currently generating power; when the air supply pipe is fully closed by the upstream valve, the air exhaust pipe is fully closed by the downstream valve.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
