Disclosed are beta amyloid inhibiting compounds of formulae (I), (II), (III) and (IV) or their pharmaceutically acceptable salts or solvates thereof useful in treating Alzheimer's disease, wherein the substituents are as described within the specification. Further disclosed is a pharmaceutical composition comprising a compound of formulae (I), (II), (III) or (IV), and the use of said compounds in the manufacture of a medicament for inhibiting beta secretase activity.
