摘要 <p>A method for allocating channels in a communication system is provided to increase spatial efficiency by considering an adaptive channel allocation scheme in order to reduce inter-cell interference and periodically segmenting channel information in order to reduce the possibility that free channels are identically and simultaneously allocated to the dominant interference sectors of the neighbor cells of a base station. If a service request is received from a terminal, a base station checks whether channels available at the sectors of the present cell exist(200,202). If no available channel exists, the base station confirms whether channels having CQI values exceeding a threshold exist among the channels of the present cell(206). If so, the base station selects channels having CQI values exceeding the threshold as candidate channels(208). Then the base station confirms whether channels allocated to sectors of an interference cell having a dominant interference on the present cell exist among the candidate channels(210). If not, the base station requests the CQI values of the candidate channels to the terminal(212). Receiving and confirming the CQI values of the candidate channels, the base station selects a candidate channel having the maximum CQI value as the best channel to provide a requested service to the terminal(214).</p>
