A new type of building element comprising a core of mineral wool (3) which is enclosed in a covering of fiber-reinforced plastic (2) which is closed on the edges, the mineral wool (3) in the form of layered blocks that are arranged in such a way that the layers are essentially perpendicular to the main side panels of the covering (2). One or more load-bearing structures (2b) which comprise fiber-reinforced plastic can connect the opposite main panels of the covering (2). The load-bearing structures can also comprise various kinds of core materials (5). The building elements can have a wear coating (1) and various kinds of surfaces, and be used for the construction of buildings and other structures. |
