PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which prevents a sheet from being damaged or contaminated when printing is performed while stopping a part of a printing unit.SOLUTION: A printer comprises: an impression cylinder 93 (a conveying cylinder); a number cylinder 31 (a printing cylinder) moving between a printing position and a retreat position; a first power transmission path 51 for connecting the impression cylinder 93 and the number cylinder 31 in an integrally rotatable manner; a first clutch 58 (a first connecting/disconnecting mechanism) provided in the first power transmission path 51; an encoder 57 (phase detection means) for detecting a rotational phase of the number cylinder 31; and a control device for controlling the operation of the first clutch 58 and changing the position of the number cylinder 31 in a rotation direction. A peripheral surface of the number cylinder 31 has an effective part 44 and a non-effective part 45. When the number cylinder 31 moves to the retreat position and printing is stopped by the number cylinder 31, the control device brings the first clutch 58 into a disconnected state and brings the number cylinder 31 into a state in which the non-effective part 45 faces the impression cylinder 93 on the basis of a detection result of the encoder 57.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7 |
