The invention relates to contact lenses for allergic conjunctivitis. The invention relates to hydrogels, release systems and optical devices suitable for the treatment or prevention of allergic conjunctivitis, in particular seasonal allergic conjunctivitis. The hydrogels of the invention are suitable for use in soft contact lenses and for the loading of active antihistamine ingredients, such as olopatadine, ketotifen or azelastine, in sufficient quantities such as to provoke a response of adequate efficacy.
