PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a short bar constitution, which not only meets the array pattern required for a screening process which destroys TFTs and auxiliary capacities which may become defective in gate wiring but also includes an array pattern required for an array defect examination device which can locate defects in gate wiring. SOLUTION: On an insulation substrate 1 for a liquid crystal display element, plural short rings 7 for gate wiring and a lot of short rings 8 for source wiring are formed, and gate wiring and source wiring 4 in a display area are connected alternately so that two adjacent lines are not connected to the same short ring, and plural short rings are connected by high resistors 13 and 14. Thus insulating substrate 1 is used to realize the conventional screening process and an array pattern constitution for array defect examination which locates the defects of wiring and pixels.
