RELAY PROTECTION CIRCUIT AND POWER STEERING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a relay protection circuit preventing erroneous detection of relay abnormality.

SOLUTION: The relay protection circuit is provided with a relay provided between an electronic circuit and a battery; a charging circuit provided between the electronic circuit and the relay and charging a potential of the battery; a by-pass circuit for feeding the potential of the battery to the charging circuit; a relay control means for energizing the relay after completion of charging of the charging circuit; a potential consumption part connected to the charging circuit; a potential detection means for detecting difference of the potentials at both sides of the relay; a relay failure diagnosis means for determining that the relay is energization-failed when the difference of the potential of the potential detection means is within a predetermined value; and a potential consumption part control means for making the potential consumption part to the energization state before the relay failure diagnosis means starts failure diagnosis of the relay.
