<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an illumination optical system for a reflection type image projecting device having two or three reflection type optical modulation elements, which achieves space saving much further than in the conventional manner. <P>SOLUTION: The reflection type image projecting device is provided with N (N is either value 2 or 3) reflection type optical modulation elements 7, 11 and 15, and composes and projects reflected light from the respective reflection type optical modulation elements 7, 11 and 15. It is equipped with N monochrome light sources 1, 2 and 3 corresponding to the respective reflection type optical modulation elements 7, 11 and 15, and radiates emitted light beams from the respective monochrome light sources 1, 2 and 3 to the corresponding reflection type optical modulation elements 7, 11 and 15 without compounds them. The emitted light beams from at least two monochrome light sources 1 and 2 are made to cross with each other in the same space, and are radiated to the corresponding reflection type optical modulation elements 7 and 11. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
