<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a handwriting input device, a handwriting input method and a computer program, in which whether an input is a handwriting input or a gesture input can be surely discriminated and handwriting input matched with a user's intention can be performed without switching a mode. <P>SOLUTION: An execution command corresponding to the sort of a gesture is previously stored, a coordinate value on a screen of handwriting input including the gesture received on the screen is acquired and handwriting is displayed. When the handwriting input is received, the display data of the handwriting are updated. When the handwriting input is not completed yet, whether the handwriting input is a gesture input or not is judged. For the gesture input, the sort of the gesture is discriminated on the basis of the coordinate value of the gesture on the screen, an execution command corresponding to the sort of the gesture is read and a message indicating the gesture input is displayed.
