<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a γ-alumina formed body exhibiting high mechanical strength. <P>SOLUTION: The manufacturing method is carried out by laminating powdery rehydrating alumina on a boehmite type aluminum hydroxide nucleus to obtain rehydrating alumina formed body, rehydrating the resultant rehydrating alumina formed body to obtain the rehydrated alumina formed body and firing the rehydrated alumina formed body. The quantity of the boehmite type aluminum hydroxide nucleus to be used is usually 0.5-15 pts.mass per 100 pts.mass powdery rehydrating alumina. The powdery rehydrating alumina is laminated on the boehmite type aluminum hydroxide nucleus by tumbling-granulating the powdery rehydrating alumina in the presence of the boehmite type aluminum hydroxide. The resultant rehydrated alumina is pulverized and recycled as the boehmite type aluminum hydroxide nucleus. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
