The present invention relates to an attenuated porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) having improved genetic stability and obtained by successively culturing a PRRSV in a culture medium including an antivirus agent; a vaccine composition for preventing or treating a porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS), wherein the vaccine composition includes the attenuated PRRSV as an active ingredient; a method for producing an attenuated arterivirus having improved genetic stability by successively culturing an arterivirus in a culture medium including an antivirus agent; an attenuated arterivirus having improved genetic stability and produced through the method; and a method for preventing or treating a PRRS by administering the vaccine composition into a swine. The regression of the PRRSV according to the present invention into a pathogenic wild-type virus is reduced, and the PRRSV according to the present invention is expected to be greatly helpful in ensuring the stability of an attenuated vaccine.
