A method for constructing a cylindrical tank, the method having a step for assembling a metallic inner tank by alternately repeating, within a concrete outer tank, both the lifting of an inner-tank side plate (9) using a jacking-up device and the mounting of the next inner-tank side plate (9) to the underside of the lifted inner-tank side plate (9), wherein the method comprises: a step for installing a legged base (8) on a foundation slab (1) in such a manner that the legged base (8) straddles an annular region (X) onto which the assembled inner tank is to be lowered, the legged base (8) supporting the inner-tank side plates (9); a step for forming, below the legged base (8), an annular section (13) in the annular region (X), the annular section (13) supporting the inner tank; and a step for relocating a leg section (8a) of the legged base (8) onto the annular section (13) after forming the annular section (13), the leg section (8a) having been positioned further toward the inside of the tank than the annular section (13). |
