Process for coloring keratin fibers comprises treating the fibers with (i) one or more orthodiphenol derivatives, (ii) one or more metal salts, (iii) hydrogen peroxide generating system, and (iv) one or more (bi)carbonates, and one or more treatment with (i)-(iv), where the fibers are mechanically wiped, dried and/or non rinsed, and the process does not have intermediate rinsing step, which implements the ingredient (iv).
