(1H-azol-1-ylmethyl)substituted quinoline, quinazoline or quinoxaline derivatives, compositions containing the same, and methods of treating mammals suffering from disorders which are characterized by an excessive proliferation and/or abnormal differentiation of epithelial tissues. Process for preparing (1H-azol-1-ylmethyl) substituted quinoline, quinazoline or quinoxaline derivatives having the general formula I: (see formula I) wherein -X1=X2- is a bivalent radical, R is H or lower alkyl, Y is H or an alkyl, cycloalkyl, aromatic, substituted aromatic, alkenyl or alkynyl group, and Z is a quinoline, quinazoline or quinoxaline derivative.
