An appearance probability calculating section (12) calculates the appearance probability of each pitch name included in the inputted scale information on the musical composition from the scale information. A template storage section (13) stores therein 24 pre-created templates corresponding to 24 keys. A weight calculating section (14) calculates the weight of each template from the appearance probability distribution of the musical composition calculated by the appearance probability calculating section (12) and the stored templates. A tone information detection section (15) detects information representing a set of weights calculated by the weight calculating section (14) or information calculated from the set of weights.
