<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of changing control sequence according to detection result of a voltage detection circuit to prevent the occurrence of abnormality in an AC power supply and the apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: In a power supply device provided with a power factor improving circuit, AC voltage detection is performed while the power factor improving circuit is stopped or blocked.
