PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television which can execute optimum picture quality adjustment adapted to each part of each image while effectively using the color expressiveness of a television. SOLUTION: A scan means for scanning a screen in a picture quality acquisition frame which is a combination of a plurality of regions of almost the same sizes, a data extraction means for extracting a partial video signal corresponding to each scanned region from the video signal, a picture quality difference detection means for detecting a picture quality difference degree between regions constituting the picture quality acquisition frame by the comparison of the partial video signal and a picture quality adjusting selection means for selecting picture quality adjustment applied to the region in accordance with the picture quality difference degree are provided.
