<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display substrate preventing generation of afterimages and spots. <P>SOLUTION: In the display substrate and a vertical alignment display panel having the same, the display panel includes, as an example, an array substrate or a substrate opposite to the array substrate. A plurality of first slit portions are arranged through a pixel area of a common electrode on the array substrate, and the first slit portions extend in a slanted direction. Grooves and protruding portions are alternately arranged at edges facing each other on the first slit portion, so that the first slit portions are patterned in a zigzag folded shape. A liquid crystal generates a positive singular point on a side surface of the protruding portion at the folded part of the first slit portion, and a negative singular point between the positive singular points. The singular points of the liquid crystal are derived so as to be generated in always fixed positions to prevent afterimages and spots. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
