PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically adjust the face size, to increase the number of persons who can be photographed, and to eliminate an error due to misoperation. SOLUTION: The photographing device 1 is equipped with a face image photographing means which photographs the face of an object, a head top detecting means 100 which detects the heat top of the face image obtained by the photography, a face image moving means 101 which moves the face image so that the head top is put in a 1st specific range, a point detecting means 102 which detects at least one arbitrary point in the face image, and a face image magnification varying means 103 which varies the magnification of the face image so that the distance between the head top part and the arbitrary point in the face image enters a 2nd specific range. In another embodiment, the photographing device 1 is equipped with the face image photographing means which photographs the face of the subject, the head top detecting means 100 which detects the head top part of the face image, a photographic frame moving means 130 which moves a photographic frame of the face image photographing means so that the head top part is put in the 1st specific range, the point detecting means 102 which detects at least one arbitrary point in the face image and a photographic magnification varying means 131 which varies the photographic magnification of the face image so that the distance between the head top part and the arbitrary point in the face image is put in the 2nd specific range.
