PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device which has higher brightness in a light-scattering state than a conventional one, decreased fluorescence and haze in a transparent state, and improved contrast and which can respond to various purposes by using an active element or a color filter in an electronic appliance using a PDLC (polymer dispersion liquid crystal) and a reverse PDLC, and to provide electronic equipment with an absolutely new value by combining a reverse PDLC with the electronic equipment. SOLUTION: The equipment comprises: a display section; a display device which has a liquid crystal-polymer layer containing a liquid crystal and a polymer in separated phases from each other and which is superposed on the display section; and a high refractive index layer disposed as a lower layer of the liquid crystal-polymer layer. The surface of the display device is subjected to non-glare treatment and/or reflection decreasing treatment, and the display device is interiorly equipped with a color filter.
